The film 'Manto', made on the life of Afsanay Saadat Hasan 'Manto', has been selected in a category 'An Authentic Regard' of the Cannes Film Festival. This film has been directed by the renowned actress and director of India, Nandita Das.
This is the second movie by the director Nandita Das after 'Firaaq' in the year of 2008. Das shared this news on Twitter for her fans. 'Un Certain Regards' means a special glimpse, whereas in the common French it means in a different perspective. It involves movies where the story has been called unconventional.
She wrote that we are at the Cannes Film Festival! Manto has been selected in its official category 'Un Certain Regards'. This news is going to thrill all the members of the film. The official Twitter handle of this French film festival has also announced it. Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has played the character of 'Manto' in this film.
The actor shared the film festival's announcement, tweeting that it is possible that Saadat Hasan died but Manto is still alive. It is heartening to inform that the 'Manto' has been selected in 'An Authentic Regarded' section of Cannes Film Festival 2018.
It is centered on the life of the film writer 'Manto' from 1946 to 1950. The authors are famous for their stories written on the India Partition. He was born on 11 May 1912 and later he went to Pakistan. Manto died on January 18, 1955, at the age of 55.
